La Guajira is a magic land, full of charms yet to be discovered. Thus, in order to facilitate the visit of tourists to the Department, Cerrejón entered into the association agreement for the construction of the four – star Hotel Waya Guajira in the municipality of Albania.

Last Saturday, July 10, a joint venture agreement was signed in Riohacha to go forward with the construction of the Hotel WAYA GUAJIRA in the municipality of Albania. This project is part of Cerrejón’s initiatives and, in this case, of the Cerrejón Foundation for Progress in La Guajira. This new tourism complex will have an investment of over $23,000 million pesos, 8,100 m2 of floor space, 140 rooms, 17 cabins with 102 hammocks for ecotourism, a swimming pool, spa, restaurants, and a convention hall.

After traveling to Cartagena and finding out about other experiences regarding the raising, processing and marketing of various sea products, the group of Wayuu indigenous fishermen, members of the research project for the raising and marketing of bivalves in the Puerto Bolívar zone, Upper Guajira; did exchange the knowledge they acquired with all members of their community in order to build another vision of what the oysters and scallops’ project they are currently executing might become at a larger scale.
