Approximately 15 tons of foodstuffs have been delivered to families affected by the winter weather in the department of La Guajira. The company Cerrejón, through its Cerrejón Foundation for Indigenous Development in La Guajira, have provided foodstuffs as part of the $300 million pesos offered to counter the winter emergency in this region of the country.

With the aim of providing smiles to hundreds of indigenous Wayuu boys and girls this Christmas, the Cerrejón Foundation for Indigenous Development in La Guajira delivered 495 gifts to 495 children. They are part of the Ayatajirrawa program held in agreement with the ICBF.

The best handmade products by Wayuu indigenous artisans, made of high-quality thread, leather, horn, and pottery, seek new national and international markets at Expoartesanías 2010. This event was created to energize and strengthen the country’s artisan sector, promoting commercial and cultural exchanges.

A moving meeting was experienced by Wayuu, Koguis and Wiwas indigenous people with the Canadian native Chief Glenn Nolan, Vice-president of Aborigine Affairs of Noront Resources Ltd, mining company, who visited Cerrejón with the purpose of sharing con ideas and practices with these communities.

Under the “Safe Territory” program, a meeting was held at the Jisentira community, located on kilometre 82 of the railway, with the participation of fifteen communities and their respective Traditional Authorities, all these communities are located between kilometres 80 and 85 of the railway.
