Joining the celebration of World Water Day, the Cerrejón Foundation for Water in La Guajira, the mayor of Hatonuevo and communities inhabitants of the Paladines basin, organized a day of integration, interchange of knowledge and protection of the Angostura reservoir, the basin’s main water source.

The Cerrejón Foundation for Water in La Guajira and Cerrejón’s Social Management Division handed over six water supply systems to indigenous communities from Cerrejón’s railway area of influence, benefiting about 925 rural indigenous from the wayuu ethnic group.

Responding to the need for water supply of the Upper Guajira communities affected by the drought, the CWFG, along with Cerrejon Social Management and Cerrejon Protection Divisions, donated 20 tanks for drinking water storage to an equal number of families.

The departmental government and the Cerrejón Foundation for Water in La Guajira signed an agreement to draw up, start, and support throughout the social, institutional, operational, and financial plan for the sustainable management of the water-supply systems of five reservoirs and their respective treatment plants in Uribia (La Guajira).

The PRAES Healthy Kamüsüchiwo’u School Environmental Project, implemented by the Kamüsüchiwo’u Indigenous Boarding School Ethnic-Education Institution, with the advise of Cerrejón Foundation for Water in La Guajira, was the winner at the VIII Departmental Meeting of Significant Pedagogic Experiences, held on October 28th and 29th in the municipality of Villanueva.
